Another flurry of snow here and the opportunity to capture a couple of our garden visitors.

The perennial favorite the Robin

And the poor old idiot Pheasant - at least this one looks fairly healthy and isn’t being shot at for the moment!
Check out my new single page website at www.worcester-photographer.co.uk - may possibly use this to showcase more of my landscape work in the future.

Have just returned from an afternoon trip to see the Starlings flocking near Glastonbury in Somerset, one of the amazing spectacles of nature. The display of random formations they make before descending into the trees to roost defies belief. The aerial acrobatics doesn’t last very long and not every returning section of the flock does it, however just to witness it for a few seconds is worth the journey.

Whilst on my way back from a commission in Bristol today I was crossing the severn bridge in Worcester at dusk to see the Malvern Hills appearing to rise from a lake. The recent rain having caused the severn to flood and provide a rarely seen view of the hill range.

Worcestershire Life magazine have used one of my images for the front cover of their November edition. A dusk shot of Worcester Cathedral taken earlier in the year against the backdrop of a full moon.
The usual photograph taken of the cathedral is from Worcester bridge looking down the river, however for this shot I chose the highest vantage point I could find in Worcester overlooking the cathedral. It’s always good to look for an alternative view point, not necessarily just the obvious when doing any assignment. This gives your customers more choice and can often produce a visually more dramatic or appealing photograph.

With the forecast suggesting a sunny morning we, Mrs Photographer & I, decided to take a walk on the Malvern Hills. Needless to say the sun didn’t last long, although until it clouded over completely the light was reasonably dramatic. At least it was a good excuse to get in the fresh air and have a stretch out.
On the work front I think it’s a positive sign in the economy when the commercial property agents pick up their marketing activities and this week I have undertaken four commercial property shoots, two over in the East Midlands.

Since returning from holiday I’ve been busy on a project to promote tourism to Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. The project involved photography over a broad range of subject matter including restaurants, industry, the arts etc. One of the subjects is a Worcester Bee Keeper, Richard Jackman, who produces high quality comb honey in a cottage industry business in the village of Martley.

Thought whilst on holiday I would try and capture a mood of ‘the night to come’ using movement and out of focus images to convey the atmosphere. The balmy nights provide an opportunity for people to be on the streets, walking and people watching.
Before the sun sets young girls by the side of a marina.

Then the romance of a sunset over the sea.

People then out on the streets….

and finding the street musicians.

As a professional photographer you have to adapt and understand clients requirements, often without full knowledge of the environment in which you will be working. Clients expect both creative and technical solutions to deliver high quality photography to enhance their product or service. It is important you are able to offer advice and alternatives to fulfill or possibly exceed their expectations. With over 20 years experience Andrew Priest has the knowledge and know how to help customers new and old get the very best images they deserve.

Hi all, been a while since I last blogged and my only excuse I’ve been a busy bee, which has to bode well in these trying economic times. I am currently engaged on a project aimed at the business tourism market for Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. The project involves the arts, eating out, recreational activities and good business profiles. One of the restaurants is Simpsons, the first in Birmingham to get a coveted Michelin Star.

Hot air balloons always seem to evoke a positive reaction and certainly make me think I would love to be up there enjoying the experience and admiring the view. So when you get a few in the sky together it makes it all the more exciting, especially when the view is of Malvern on a beautiful summers evening.
